Memories

Again I have been cleaning out little holes...and I hit the jackpot this time!!! The card to the left is a card to my Mother when she was carrying me wayyyyyy back in 1957...this card is probably from 1956 as I was born early in 57.
Next is a letter to the tooth fairy from 1965. I can remember being so sad as my tooth had fell out while I was brushing my teeth one night and went down the drain!!! Such an innocent time!

And lastly this is a page from a ration book given to my grandmother dated May 6, 1942. I had never seen the rationing stamps before and thought you all might enjoy seeing this part of our past. Hope you enjoyed my little trip down memory lane...have a great day.

  1. Wow, your mom kept way more than my mom did. Probably because they had moved to a new city in the 50's and had to dispose of a lot of it.

You have really found some treasures. Some of it is probably quite valuable to collectors.

  2. I think that is what has made this so difficult Miss Carol...I have to sift thru everything. The first 4 months I was here I went thru just bags and bags of paperwork. Some important but some of it was like old appliance warranties to things she hasn't had in years! lol Some times it gets so overwhelming I loose interest and then feel guilty that I don't have this house anymore organized...you would think after a year it should all be sorted...but considering there was 11 rooms of stuff at my old house and 10 rooms of things here...I guess I am lucky I can find me!!!

  3. Wow, what a collection of awesome memories! I have never seen ration stamps before. thank you for sharing them! Now you need to go thrifting, find an old picture frame to redo and put that sheet of stamps in it. I think that would make an amazing wall hanging!

  4. These are such precious, wonderful memories! I'll bet they tug at your heart strings, too. When my husband's father passed away (his mother was already long gone) we went to clean out his house & found excess party decorations from my husbands first birthday party. He was very sick when he was born & not expected to live--obviously, this expectation did not come to pass, and they went all out for his first birthday.

  8. Hi sweet Beth..
It's been awhile since I've been really able to be out and about visiting, so today I'm feeling a bit better and just had to come by and say hi. I loved the mother to be card and the ration stamps..but what I really loved was your note to the tooth fairy. Will you frame it??? Ohhh,I hope you do..it's such a sweet treasure from a little girl, explaining to the tooth fairy where her tooth was. I would frame it..yes,I would.
    Hugs...CC
